Conservation Area Appraisals and Management Plans

Conservation Area Appraisals describe what makes a conservation area special and why it is important. They provide a detailed assessment of the area's character, architectural and historic interest, and help identify its strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats.

The appraisals form the foundation for Management Plans, which set out how the area should be preserved and enhanced over time.

Together, they support planning decisions, guide development, and ensure that change within the area respects its unique qualities.

The Conservation Area Appraisals for:

  • Aberaeron
  • Cardigan
  • Aberystwyth
  • Llanbadarn Fawr
  • Lampeter
  • Llandysul
  • Tregaron
  • New Quay

were formally adopted as Supplementary Planning Guidance (SPG) by the Cabinet on the 3rd of June 2025.
