7. Assessment Process

Applications will be assessed on the anticipated outputs and outcomes of the project, together with the following criteria.

Outputs and Outcomes

  • Engagement in new markets
  • Adoption of new to the firm technologies or processes
  • Amount of floorspace completed / improved
  • New or improved amenities / facilities
  • Demonstrable improvements in productivity within six months (increase in the gross value added per hour worked)
  • Development of new-to-market products or services
  • Number of enterprises successfully transitioning into higher size-bands (The number of enterprises growing from one employee size band to a higher band within 12 months of support
  • Number of vacant units filled
  • New jobs created as a result of support

Assessment Criteria

  • Strength and quality of the project proposal, including its level of innovation
  • Value for money and robustness of project costs
  • Deliverability within the proposed timeframe
  • Alignment with the Ceredigion Economic Strategy
  • A clear and credible business plan demonstrating the proposed growth opportunity - (Applicants must provide a business plan that clearly demonstrates the business's current position, growth ambitions, and how the proposed investment will contribute to achieving sustainable growth, increased productivity, innovation, and job creation. Plans should be clear and concise, providing succinct evidence to support the investment being sought

**Job creation will be assessed on a case-by-case basis, taking into account the nature and growth plans of each business. We recognise that employment growth may not occur immediately and that, for example, three new jobs may be created over a three-year period as part of a longer-term expansion strategy. However, applicants will be required to provide evidence demonstrating the anticipated number of jobs to be created within the grant period (by 31st January 2027) and show that these projections are realistic and achievable.
