Penparcau Hub

Penparcau Hub

Penparcau Hub has found a simple yet effective way to bring generations together—by creating a small play area in their community café. With support from the Age Friendly Ceredigion Grant, they purchased activity boards and other play equipment to keep young children entertained in a safe and engaging space.

This addition means grandparents can bring their grandchildren along, enjoying a cuppa, a slice of cake, and a chat with friends while the little ones play nearby. It’s helping to make the café more inclusive, reducing isolation for older residents who might otherwise struggle to attend without childcare.

By supporting intergenerational connection and offering a space where everyone feels at home, Penparcau Hub continues to show how small changes can have a big impact. The play area has quickly become a valued part of the café, encouraging regular visits and creating a more vibrant, sociable atmosphere for the whole community.

The Newcastle Emlyn Rugby Club Choir

A group of older men brought together by a shared love of music and sport—used their Age Friendly Ceredigion Grant to take their voices on the road earlier this year. In February, the choir travelled to Neath Rugby Football Club to support Newcastle Emlyn RFC as they took on Neath RFC.

The grant helped cover the cost of the bus, making it possible for the group to travel together and perform on match day. The event brought joy to both the choir and the crowd and offered a valuable opportunity for connection and community spirit.

Thanks to the grant, the choir continues to strengthen friendships, boost well-being, and raise voices—together.

Llanfarian Art Group

The idea for the Art Group first came about during a monthly meeting at Llanfarian Hall, where the committee was exploring activities that could benefit the wider community. When they heard about the Age Friendly Ceredigion Grant, they saw an opportunity to turn the idea into action—and were delighted to be awarded funding.

Thanks to the grant, the group now runs weekly two-hour art sessions, with crafting elements being gradually introduced as the group grows. All materials are provided, and the sessions offer a warm, welcoming, and sociable environment where people of all ages can express themselves creatively.

Whether you're keen to get stuck in or just want to pop by and see what it's all about, there’s always a friendly face and an open invitation. The Art Group is still in its early stages, but numbers are growing, and the committee is excited about what the future holds—building confidence, creativity, and community connections along the way.

The Art Group meets at Llanfarian Hall every Thursday from 10am to 12pm.
