GCSE and BTEC results announced

Today marks an important milestone for students across Ceredigion as they receive their GCSE and BTEC results.

The examination results published today by the WJEC indicate that high standards are being achieved in Ceredigion schools.

97% of entries for WJEC Summer examinations were graded A*-G; 66% achieved A*-C grades and 22% of the entries achieved A*-A grades.

Councillor Wyn Thomas, Cabinet Member for Schools, Lifelong Learning and Skills, said: “Congratulations to all learners on their achievements and the commitment they have demonstrated throughout the year. The dedication of our teachers, school staff, governors, parents and carers plays a vital role in helping young people reach their potential. Today is an opportunity to recognise the collective effort that has contributed to these achievements and to celebrate the successes of our learners as they take their next steps.”

The following table provides comparative figures, excluding Welsh Baccalaureate results. Figures for Wales include all examination bodies whilst figures for Ceredigion contain results for the WJEC only.

Elen James, Ceredigion Chief Education Officer, added: “Ceredigion's results are once again highly encouraging this year and deserve considerable praise. They are clear evidence of the dedication, perseverance, and hard work of our young people. Warm congratulations to all learners for their conscientious efforts and achievements.

It is also important to recognise and celebrate the commitment and efforts of teachers and staff, together with the invaluable support of parents and carers, all of whom have contributed to ensuring the best possible outcomes for every pupil.

In Ceredigion, we are committed to seeing all our young people succeed, develop and thrive. We wish them every success as they take their next exciting steps, whether that means returning to sixth form, pursuing a course at college, undertaking an apprenticeship or entering the world of work.”

Good luck to all students for the future.
