Youth work in schools, education progression, accredited learning, and participation
School based Youth Workers engage with young people aged 11 – 18 both in universal and focussed contexts. Youth Workers strive to build and maintain meaningful relationships with all school pupils; that include referred pupils who are deemed at risk of disengagement from mainstream education, due to one or a host of reasons.
Youth Workers form relationships based on voluntary engagement. Through participation with individuals, Youth Workers can design a tailored plan that offer support in the form of personal, social, emotional, and behavioural needs of the individual. This can be delivered both within and outside the school environment and be both targeted and universal.
Targeted Prevention
The prevention team works with young people who are either 'at risk' of exposure to the justice system due to anti-social behaviour and/or offending. We offer targeted programmes, projects and one to one support with young people who seek preventative provision.
Open Access Holiday programmes
We offer open access programmes during school holidays. The open access programmes can include various activities for young people alongside taster days for young people who aim to attend education, employment or training. These are promoted via our social media pages.
Youth Clubs
We have Youth Clubs in Cardigan, Aberaeron and Aberystwyth which are open on a weekly basis.
- Cardigan – Tuesday Evenings
- Aberaeron – Wednesday Evenings
- Aberystwyth – Thursday Evenings
Post 16 Support
We have a designated Outreach/Post 16 Team who provide support and guidance to young people aged 16-25 to re-engage into education, employment or training! The Post 16 Team provides one to one support and also offer a wide range of weekly programmes and activities which aim to improve young people’s confidence, resilience and life skills. The Post 16 Team also work closely with Careers Wales and Support School Leavers to ensure they have a destination or wider support if needed.
Detached/ mobile Van, outreach and pop up youth work
Our team offer detached work where we engage with young people within their communities. We also offer the mobile provision which is a youth club on wheels in essence. The aim of the mobile van is to visit rural communities to provide further offer for young people to engage in activities and have access to Youth Work provision.
