Ysgol Bro Teifi celebrates national championship success
Ysgol Bro Teifi's U18 rugby team travelled to Newport for the WRU Plate Final, taking on Ysgol Maes y Gwendraeth at Rodney Parade in a very exciting and competitive match.
From the first whistle, the game was fast and physical, with Ysgol Bro Teifi players showing tremendous commitment and effort in all aspects of the game.
Ysgol Bro Teifi started strongly, with tries from Elis Evans, Llew Thomas and Jack Brown giving the team an early advantage. Dafydd Nichols-Evans added the extra points from the kicking tee. Although Ysgol Maes y Gwendraeth continued to challenge, Bro Teifi managed to maintain the advantage.
Half-time score: 19–14
Resilient Performance in the Second Half
In the second half, the pressure increased as the game became more tight and competitive. Bro Teifi's players had to defend firmly and show discipline under pressure.
These efforts came to fruition with a late try that gave the team more of a gap. In the final minutes, a crucial penalty kick was cawarded with Nichols-Evans holding his nerve and slotting through the posts, securing the victory.
Final Score: 27–19
This win is a testament to the hard work, commitment and talent of the players, as well as the support of the staff and fans. According to the Headteacher, Gareth Evans, "This game is the culmination of a tough season for the boys as they beat much bigger schools on the way to the final. It also builds on the school's reputation in sports with numerous successes this year across a range of sports and age groups". I would like to thank all the school staff for their tireless work in ensuring these experiences for our pupils and the parents for their support".
