Active Travel in Ceredigion – have your say

People across the county are being asked to share their views on where Active Travel can be made safer and easier for everyone.

Under statutory duties of the Active Travel (Wales Act) 2013, all Local Authorities in Wales are required to submit their Active Travel Network Maps (ATNM’s) to the Welsh Government in December 2026.  These maps support the planning, delivery and funding of Active Travel schemes, helping to create a more integrated, accessible, and sustainable network for walking, wheeling and cycling journeys.

The consultation focuses on the main towns of Aberystwyth, Cardigan and Lampeter, which have been selected by the Welsh Government as the designated localities in the county.

This consultation will run from 09 February to 22 March 2026 and further details can be found on the Council’s Engagement and Consultation webpage: Active Travel Network Map 2026 - Ceredigion County Council. This page will help direct the public to an interactive map where comments can be posted on which routes they would like to see introduced or improved.

In support of this public engagement, County Councillor Shelley Childs, Ceredigion County Council Cabinet Member for Highways and Environmental Services, comments that “Active travel journeys provide a wide range of benefits from helping to de-carbonise transport and travel, help to improve local air quality as well as improving everyone’s health and wellbeing.  This is an excellent opportunity for Ceredigion residents to tell us what they would like to see included on our future Active Travel Network Map.”
