Share your views on Ceredigion’s Common Allocation Policy
Residents are being asked for their views on Ceredigion County Council’s draft Common Allocation Policy which sets out the Council’s proposal for the allocation of social housing in the County.
The Policy recognises the important role that housing plays, together with the influence it has on the health and wellbeing of individuals, families, and the wider community.
Key challenges have been identified within the existing Policy which has resulted in the need for a change in the Allocation Policy. The national picture of the cost of living crisis and legislative changes play their part in impacting the local issues affecting housing in Ceredigion. The Council need to think about the use of social housing stock, whilst continuing to improve living conditions and supporting residents.
Councillor Matthew Vaux, Ceredigion’s Cabinet member responsible for Housing said: “Housing is something that impacts everybody; everyone needs somewhere to live and everyone has an opinion of what that should look like and how they can access it within their specific location. This Policy details how we intend to enable access to social housing and the challenges affecting our communities. It sets out the Council’s priorities for meeting housing need and working with tenants and residents to build sustainable and cohesive communities.”
“Whilst stakeholders may have a view around what the priorities are and how to take these forward, it is really important that we have the perspectives of as many people as possible. We look forward to hearing from as many of you as possible.”
The consultation will run for 6 weeks until Friday 15 November 2024.
