UK Shared Prosperity Fund – Mid Wales Region
This fund is now closed.
The UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) is a central pillar of the UK government’s Levelling Up agenda and a significant component of its support for places across the UK. It provides three years funding for local investment.
The Mid Wales Region has been allocated £42 million from 1st April 2022 to 31st March 2025.
The primary goal of the UKSPF is to build pride in place and increase life chances across the UK. This aligns with Levelling Up White Paper missions, particularly: ‘By 2030, pride in place, such as people’s satisfaction with their town centre and engagement in local culture and community, will have risen in every area of the UK, with the gap between the top performing and other areas closing.’
Ceredigion and Powys Councils are working together to deliver the UKSPF in Mid Wales.
This means that there is one regional Mid Wales plan, but with separate funding allocations for Powys and Ceredigion.
The UKSPF allows for a mix of projects across different geographies. We can look to support projects that benefit people/organisations in either Powys or Ceredigion – or jointly as a larger Mid Wales project. We can also look to support collaborative projects with Local Authorities outside of Mid Wales.
There are four main investment priorities for the UKSPF:
- Communities and Place - This fund is currently closed
- Supporting Local Business - This fund is currently closed
- People and Skills - This fund is currently closed
- Multiply (adult numeracy) - This fund is currently closed
Within each of these investment themes, key local priorities (referred to as interventions) have been identified. These are outlined in the Mid Wales UKSPF Regional Investment Plan together with the challenges and opportunities facing the region and the associated outputs and outcomes that UK Government are looking for projects to achieve.
The Mid Wales UKSPF Regional Investment Plan can be found on the the Mid Wales Regional Investment Plan page (scroll down to the bottom) on the Growing Mid Wales website.
